Fasting Day 1: Gratitude
As we start our three days of fasting, I want to remind you that this is not simply about what we’re giving up, but about Who we’re drawing near to. Fasting creates space for us to slow down, listen, and respond to Jesus with soft and attentive hearts. Thank you to everyone who has already shared what you’re praying for during this time. It’s powerful to see how God is moving among our church.
Today, our shared prayer focus is gratitude.
Gratitude is a posture of the heart that recognizes God’s faithfulness in every season. As you pray today, take time to reflect on God’s goodness in your life: His provision, His protection, His patience, and His presence. Allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of blessings you may have overlooked or rushed past.
As you reflect, I encourage you to spend time in 1 Kings 19:1–18. Elijah found himself weary, discouraged, and overwhelmed. Yet even in that valley, God cared for him, strengthened him, fed him, and spoke to him in a gentle whisper. Gratitude often grows in moments just like that… not when everything is perfect, but when we recognize how faithfully God sustains us in our weakness.
You may even sense God shifting your prayers from “God, I need…” to “God, thank You…”
Gratitude prepares our hearts for what God is doing next by anchoring us in trust. When we remember how He has carried us before, it becomes easier to trust Him with what is ahead.
As you fast, let your gratitude turn into worship – speak it, write it, sing it, or simply sit quietly in His presence.
I’m grateful for you, and for the way God is shaping our church through this time of seeking Him.
You can find our daily reading plan here or in the church app.
With gratitude for you,
